Casa de Nubia Figueredo

Project type

Residential

Date

2008

Location

Gongogi, Bahia, Brazil

Located in a remote part of Gongogi, Bahia, Brazil, this residential project aims to achieve transparency in a home by providing both public and private living spaces. The house has a wedge-shaped structure that creates a solid wall facing the street and an open, transparent space facing the garden. The bedrooms and bathing area are separated by transparent glazing with an aluminum colonnade. The kitchen, dining, and living areas are arranged along the long wall of the glazed facade, with views of the palm tree grove, pool area, and barbecue. The entire south facade is a double-height wall with glazing, using structural aluminum tubing. The wedge utilizes passive solar design by creating thermal mass along the north facade of the dwelling. Structural supports extend beyond the south facade to secure a canopy for shading throughout the day.
