Over twenty years ago, I was tasked with designing a beach chair in collaboration with the offices of Oscar Niemeyer. Today, I have reimagined this beach chair to establish a stronger connection with contemporary home architecture. Drawing inspiration from the natural curves of Copacabana Beach and the iconic design of Burle Marx’s famous promenade, this piece embodies the essence of a beachside afternoon within the home. Its low profile is a key feature that enhances this experience. I have chosen premium Brazilian hardwoods, specifically Jacaranda, and incorporated top-grade leathers. The hardware features durable stainless steel tubing, paired with custom fasteners made from zinc, ensuring both strength and style.
